[RC] Pens in camp and Hallelujah Ride - Alicia Mansuetti

Just came back from the Hallelujah ride which was very well done with wonderful trails and great food.  Three friends and I were doing our "backup" horses first 50 mile ride.  We all completed with all A's even though my horse was like riding a demon for 491/2 of the 50 miles.  Did not think I could ever ride him collected for 50 miles but we did.  Thank you Adele and especially Lynn for "body blocking" for most of the whole ride.

I have 2 questions for ridecampers.  We were awakened at 4am on the morning of the ride with 3 of our 4 horses gone from their pens!  It was a terrible hour until we found them nicely tied to someone's trailer.  Whoever caught them we really appreciated it.  We are currently using hot tape 1 inch with plastic poles.  What does everyone else use to keep their horses in with??

Several of the vets wanted me to elevate to 75 since my demon horse looked so good at the end but since it was his first 50 I declined.  We train hard, long and frequent at home. We also cross train with dressage and hunter jumper lessons so I can hold onto him on the trail when he gets excited.  So how many 50's should we do until I do 100 with him.  He is 6 1/2 and has been on the trail since he was 4 1/2.

    Thanks for your help!
