[RC] unusual sweat patterns/heat cycle?? - GoTory

    Hi Ridecamp-
Hoping someone might have some experience- and reassurance for me-
regarding my 12 yr old Arab mare. Went on a light conditioning ride a couple
of weeks ago during which she worked up her usual level of sweat- this horse
sweats a lot! Back at camp, normal sweat areas (under saddle, neck) were dry
but there were very wet areas that developed after about an hour and stayed
wet- places she ordinarily does not get wet- flanks, udder area, and behind
the saddle area on her back. She repeated this the next day. with the
additional change of developing this new sweat pattern during the ride. She
was abnormally irritable and jiggy on the trail as well- just not her normal
self. Again these new wet areas stayed wet for hours after all the normal
    sweat had dried.
Once home, she went into a RAGING heat cycle- screaming at everyone. mare
and gelding alike, and was out of sorts for days. This mare normally has
almost silent cycles and does not exhibit the usual "mare-ish" behavior, so
having her act this way, especially in the Fall, has me puzzled - and also
wondering if the sweating thing might be related- knowing how hormones can
mess us all up in many ways!
Help/advice once again from RideCamp greatly appreciated! nikki
