[RC] [RC] Dixie Midnight Pads - Deanna German

    Carolyn, Maggie, Mike, et al:
Karl is Karl, he knows what he knows and he thinks about things a lot. Yeah,
he's WAY arrogant, but he's got more business integrity than just about
anyone I know. His pad is a good product and it works for many, many horses.
He stands behind his product too.

Karl reminds me of people I encountered when I worked for the prosthetics
company -- and believe me, putting a saddle on a horse's back has many, many
things in common with putting an artificial limb on an amputated leg. Karl
is passionate, he believes in what he sells and he shares his opinion,
nevermind the tone of the delivery. (If Karl chose to, he could hire a
company spokesperson who might be able to "spin" his opinion in a more
positive way, but it would still be the same company and the same product.)
I knew lots of extremely competent professionals in the prosthetics industry
who were exactly like Karl. They helped a lot of people to walk. And yes,
even in that industry, look-alike products are not created equal. The
penalty for spending too little is usually greater than the penalty for
    spending too much.

    -------------------------------------

I didn't see the original email from Mike about the Dixie Midnight Pad, but
from the snippets in the reply, I don't get the angry response from the
vendor. I have never bought one of these pads but have seen the knock off's
in action and would never buy another pad like them. The one I saw in
action after a few rides left open, bleeding sores. You may say that your
pad is the best pad in the world, not like any of the others, but I am not
going to try it on my horse and make them the experiment. Even if the pad
    was free.

But until your reply in this forum, I didn't think that your company was
anything other than one that was trying to blow your own whistle, which is
what companies do. And maybe with the economy being the way it is, and your
competitors producing junk that injures horses, your sales are way down and
you're frustrated with that. So mabe Mike was the straw that broke the
    camels back.
