[RC] Venting - Lisa Pardus
Okay folks,
I realize there must be some fees included, and that our state and
national forests are being rediculous about charging extra fees for use,
but this is getting out of hand! I just started in this sport, and ALL of
my entry fees are over $50.00! Since I am not an AERC member yet, that
means I automatically have another $10.00 added onto that. Okay, I
understand that as well. Membership has its privilages.
HOWEVER, this charging for camping, when it is REQUIRED that we be there
a day early is getting to be rediculous! Soon, I will start talking with
others at these rides and see what can be done.
I am NOT repeat NOT yelling about or AT the ride managers. Without them,
there would be NO rides. What can we do about these fees? How are going
to attract more new comers with such outragous costs involved? Just
riding in a 25 miler is soon going to cost nearly $100.00! Who will be
able to afford to ride in 50s or 100s soon?
I think I remember this going around last year, but last year the cost
was a little more reasonable! Now there is an added fee for camping as
well as the cost for Non-AERC members! (I am asking for a membership for
Christmas!)
Americans rebelled for far less! Will we have to boycott or start a
petition to someone? Or do I have to give up the idea of being an
endurance rider altogether? Howard, do YOU have any ideas? I know YOU are
shelling out the bucks for this! Anyone else?
