    At the risk of being controversial....LOL...I feel the non-member fee is a 
    good thing.  I can see, however, that it perhaps should be a one-time thing.  
    I paid it at my first ride, fell in love with the sport, and joined.   AERC 
    got another member and an extra $10 bucks outta me that way!  (Actually two 
    new members and $20 - my wife did the same thing!)  It could be difficult 
    administratively, but allowing it one time might be a solution?
