    I gave serious consideration to running this year, and some of the
    factors above weighed in my decision.  But the main reason I decided
    not to run was that I didn't want to be one of those Directors who ran
    with an axe to grind.  What got me thinking about running was my
    hatred for the non-member fees, and a strong desire to see them
    eliminated from the AERC.  Yes, "hatred;" the non-member fees are the
    reason I don't manage rides any more.  I simply will not be a party to
    collecting them.
    
    But I fear I would just be tilting at a windmill; the fees are pretty
    heavily entrenched.  "Make somebody else pay for my benefits" is too
    popular.  The Board and the AERC don't need the distraction of a fight
    that isn't likely to resolve anything.
