Hey, I've been that stranger on a number of occasions!  Most people
who ride with kids already know this so I'm not telling anybody anything
new, but generally speaking, most of the kids usually prefer to ride with
somebody besides a parent.  Just don't ask them in front of their
parents, they won't admit to it :>D.  The kids learn different
things from different people, make new friends and become more
responsible.  It's good for them to know that there really are no
strangers, only friends they haven't met yet, at least on the
trail.  (we're not talking the shopping mall!)
