    Boy, that's a toughie.  I don't think I'll even try to
    answer it, as it can take a lifetime to learn. (And
    I'm still learning. <g>)  Just look for a horse that
    was bred for work of some kind -- endurance/trail,
    working western, dressage, jumping, etc -- not one
    that was bred just for round-the-rosy or a
    halter-reject.  "Endurance prospect" can be a scary
    term that is used for a lot of rejects ("too ugly for
    halter, too hyper for western pleasure...").

    7" per 1000lbs.  Some people prefer 8" per 1000lbs
    (like me).  But, in either case, 7" on many/most Arabs
    will be enough.
