    [RC] WEC - goearth

Well after the dust has settled or shall we say the mud has turned to dust, this is the first time the USA has not Won.  We did not Loose either.  We finished a Team.  The fact some one with a plan and the assets to carry it thru is not a bad thing.  Its the American Way.  The fact it was Won by a 16 yo young man is wonderful whoever he is or where he came from.  Any Father would be proud.  The fact also this was the first time a Male has won is another wonderful story.  The fact the French RODE as a Team and finished first is another wonderful story even tho they sold a lot of their good horses.  The Italians who at the first WEC in their country in 1986 finished one rider out of 12.  That is another wonderful story in how far they have come.  The Australians even tho they sold a lot of their good horses did wonderful as a Team.  The sad part is that 2 horses died.  In a competition as large as this it is a black eye to the sport of Endurance Racing.  The gap between that and Endurance Riding as we know it is broadening into something different.  How we appear to the rest of the world when we didn't win will say multitudes. So i say to the Young Man from the UAE and his family and country....Bravo.  To the Italians i say  Bravo.  To the French and Australians i say Bravo.  To the USA i say  Bravo.  Thanks John and Steph for allowing us to follow it.  tom sites
