[RC] horse height vs soundness - Jim Mitchell

There was an excellent test of soundness and toughness held last summer, it was called XP2001.  The horse that went the longest was 14 hands carrying over 200 lbs., the next longest was 13.2 or so carrying about 190 lbs.  At the start there were 198 horses and many well known, fast, tall horses. I believe it is harder for 14 hand horses to be fast in one day 50 or 100 mile rides. But when the ride became long the taller horses couldn't stay as sound. I believe this 8 week test's results could be extrapolated into seasons and long time soundness.  Joe's points are well taken.
