You want to start trying to figure out whose fault it is when a horse
goes lame and punish the guilty party? What if it's the horse's mama who
gave him weak tendons? Do we hunt her up? >g< I think of life *and*
endurance riding as a great big game of chutes & ladders (did ya'll have
that game?) You choose the right horse...take this ladder and advance 10
blocks. You run him too hard too soon...you land on a chute and lose 6
months competition. The horse does a pretty darned good job of punishing
those who do things wrong. Either with time off...or financial loss.
I'd love to see some bad things happen to some jerks...but somehow it
very often seems they've made a deal with the devil and get away with
murder, while the most conciencious riders around have all sorts of bad
stuff happen.
