Re: [RC] maping, marking and GPS - desrtrydr
At Fire Mountain last year we had a group of about 100
or so motorcycle riders come up from the LA area and
hold an unauthorized Poker Ride on some of the same
trails we use. Our ribbons were orange and theirs were
pink. Friday evening we just happened to think it might
be a good idea to check the first loop since it
traverses some of the area that hikers use and sure
enough the ribbons had all been pulled and moved. This
was discovered near dark and we really had to scramble
that night and the next morning remarking to keep ahead
of the front runners.
We didn't discover it was a motorcycle poker ride until
the next day when my hubby who was on a motorocycle
frantically trying to remark trail ran into a couple of
them on the first loop and they told him there were
about a hundred or so riders on the poker ride.
We also found that they had gone out and moved ribbons
on the other two loops also so we really played heck
trying to keep ahead of our riders who were VERY
understanding.
Our wonderful drag rider helped save the day as she had
pulled ribbons and left them in the ham radio operators
trucks. We ran out of ribbons and hubby used them to
help supplement the ones we had lost to the poker ride
gang.
