    [RC] Endurance... - Jim Holland

I have really enjoyed the latest posts regarding Norco Riverdance. The
folks hanging in there, "enduring", making the effort, the dedication of
the volunteers, the perserverance of the Ride Managers...it's what we're
    about.

Being a science fiction fan, one of my all time favorite writers was
Robert Heinlein. This is a quote from one of his characters, Lazarus
Long. Note that it says "human being", not "man". This hangs on my wall
to remind me that I NEVER stop learning...if a days goes by that I don't
learn something new, I consider it wasted.

"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion,
butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnett, balance
accounts, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders,
cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch
manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, and
    die gallantly."

    		"SPECIALIZATION IS FOR INSECTS"

Hmmm...bet this applies to a LOT of Endurance Riders...except maybe the
last two probably apply to only to a few of us....Semper Fi!
