Re: [RC] Labor Day Riding Plans - Bette Lamore

A Labor Day family ride at Montana De Oro--- half on the beach and half in high desert and through the Eucalyptus trees on the way up. Eat your hearts out!! California may have its nuts (of course I am referring to the almond orchards) BUT we still have some of the most beautiful scenery and incredible weather!

So what are people doing for riding this long weekend?

My husband and I are off to Mammoth Cave, KY, to ride there for the first time. Sunday, I will take off on Tanna and get a good training ride in. He's been laid off for about 4 weeks. Last time we trained, his back end slipped out from under him going around a turn over a smooth flat rock. We were cantering, and then we weren't. Anyway, when I got him home, I noticed a rip in his heel bulb so have given him all this time to totally heal up from it. He's got lots of energy!

Today I did both Serts' and Tanna's feet and they are all ready for riding this weekend. I am excited. My husband and I are camping for the first time ever together and for the first time with these two horses. We're looking forward to the get-a-way.

What are the rest of you up to? Any Sunday or Monday rides in the SE or NE that I missed hearing about? :-)
