Re: [RC] Tack Stores - Karla Watson

There is a fun tack store called Tack Trader in Newberg that is new/used stuff. I just went there this weekend first time. They have alot of trail stuff. Pretty good prices. Large intentory in a small space. Lots of old/antique western americana stuff including old riding stuff and cool pictures. Saw one endurance saddle, some ice boots, lots of good trail packs, S-hacks etc. Mostly used stuff and lots of barely used equipment.

Culpeppers is really fun but mostly western. But we still use alot of trail stuff that western stores supply. Very large store in Troutdale and they play old type western music when you walk in. Very charming place. You'll feel like you are in Wyoming or something.

Horse Poor store in SE Portland is good. Very small store but good used tack prices. All used tack and consignment saddles. Owner is nice and helpful.

V-Bar-V in SE Portland is nice tack store. Mostly western but some endurance. They actually have Big Horn Endurance saddles there which is a surprise for this quarter horse town.

As Heidi said, Sidesaddle Tack in NE Portland is good also. All new and quite a large selection of stuff. Prices seem high though. Its mostly english with emphasis on eventing. HUGE bit selection.

Good luck!! Wish I had some $$ to go too!

Greg, I live just outside Vanc. Wa. and work there, the
best tack shops are online!!!! Actually there is one called
Sidesaddle Tack in Portland that is pretty good, they have
a good assortment of both english and western gear. There
is a place called Double J in Ridgefield, Wa. (just outside
Vanc.) but other than that, not much unless you want alot
of western gear!! This area is huge in the QH/Western look.
    Hope this helps.
