Re: [RC] Helmets and risk tolerance - Colleen Egleston

But here's the thing, when someone who doesn't have medical insurance falls
off their horse, not wearing a helmet, and requires months of
hospitalization, it's everyone else who ultimately pays for it. Now if you
don't want to wear a helmet, good for you, just have health insurance, or
get only the health care that you can afford, even if it means you die.
Unfortunately that isn't how are society works, in our forefathers time, it
did work that way, each person bore their own responsibility. Some lived,
    some died, tough breaks.

SO ultimately we need to make laws to prevent some people from their own
stupidity.... notice when you buy shoes there is a little silica pack in
them and on the package it says, 'Do not eat.' This is a protection for the
dumb ass who decides to eat the silica pack in their shoes.

This post is in no way implying that people who chose not to wear helmets
    are stupid.
