    [RC] Vaccinations/rabies - Ridecamp Guest

    Jonni <jonnij@xxxxxxxx
(sorry this might not be informative to some, as I am "just" a guest...they are welcome to delete now) I had a previous vet that always gave each different vaccination in the same place on every horse (IE: Rabies on left side of neck, Rhino on right side etc...) Then, if I had a reaction swelling, I could hopefully pin point which one it was by the swelling or a sore spot. I will make notes with my current vet as to where they give what, in case of a reaction. I had swelling on the neck of one horse last year, and some body stiffness, but we are unsure which vaccination caused it, as he gave the shots random. Just something to consider. And when we were in So. California, we never gave rabies, but Texas has too many cases of rabies, including horses. I was told often a rabid skunk will bite the grazing horse on the nose, trying to get to what ever it is eating.
