Re: [RC] question for Merryben - Ridecamp Guest

    A. Perez walkergirl@xxxxxxxxxx
I don't have kids to use as an excuse for not having
time to train for 50/100 mile rides. I just have a full time
job, a lousy commute, other things to do... you know, a life

       ;-)

indeed I am beginning to wonder if I'll ever make it to an LD!
But I would like to hear those who are down on LD suggest and
alternative for those who simply can't fit 100 mile races into
their lives. And PLEASE don't say CTR: I'd have to spend just
as much time trying to train Idiot Boy not to spook at goofy obstacles, and I don't care to have anyone judge my ability
to hand a haynet (if I am mistaken about CTR, please let me know:
from the little I have heard they have trail-class like obstacles
that are judged, and you horse-care at camp is also assessed: too
much like pony club for me!).

Another question: what is the rational behind the rule that
LDs cannot be held independently from 50/100 mile rides?
It does seem like a good way to make sure LD rides will
    keep subsidizing the longer rides.
