Re: [RC] A question/training husbands - Catherine Costner

    Angie,

I, too, endured many years of 4-H and horse showing with the kids minus my
hubby. Although he is by far the superior horseman, he was always much too
busy....with work or lawn mowing or something manly.

He did make a surprise visit to the arena the day I packed the boys off for
English riding lessons. I was astounded by his sudden interest in a
discipline he just loves to make fun of. He stood at the rail with arms
crossed, giving the instructor the ole stink eye when it hit me. He was
worried that I had sissified his little buckeroos into beanie hatted, tights
    wearing little Nancy-boys.

Sure 'nuff, the English lessons went quickly by the wayside. On the
upside, Dad spends a lot more time with the 4-H "working cowhorse" unit now
and, of course, endurance riding. And, once each of the fellas gave their
sister's English endurance saddle a whirl on the trail, they all admitted
that one had to be a heck of a rider to hang onto that thing for 50 miles.

    Mission accomplished.

    Cathy
