Re: [RC] [RC] Helmets - Carolyn Burgess

    Amber:

When I said "it does't happen", I said someone killed BECAUSE they had the helmet on, not killed with a helmet on. I know that helmets don't protect from everything, but they do not cause injury, if worn properly. The girl riding my Paint was almost killed, they took her off the property in a helicopter, and she was wearing a helmet. But her injury is one of the ones that a helmet is not good at protecting from.

The point to this was that those who wear helmets have reasons, protection of there head being the major reason. Those who don't wear them also have reasons, but not wearing one because it can cause injury has not been supported.

Carolyn, be careful of statements like saying "It doesn't Happen" sorry to be a wet noodle, but I don't like generalized statements. First off, have you any data that suggests that it doesn't happen? Secondly, I was given my first TWH because the owner was killed in a riding accident from head injuries and she was wearing a helmet. Freak happening? Perhaps. Or her time was up. But this happened in Ashland, Oregon a few years ago.

I'd like to here from those of you that are saying that helmets
    > are dangerous and specifics as to why they are dangerous.Well, I would like to hear that one too.
