By gosh, by golly, I guess that I must have joined not long after the start.
I did my first CTR in Spring of 1995, and I know that I was reading
ridecamp before that. Through the years, I've primarily been a lurker, and
I've learned much. I felt much better prepared for my first ride (and
subsequent rides...) than I ever could have been otherwise, thanks to
ridecamp. In those days, I hadn't yet met any real, live distance riders!
Thankfully, that situation has changed.
It is funny - when I joined, I thought that everyone else already knew each
other, and that I was an outsider looking in. Seven years later, I learn
that most were strangers to one another.
I remember the pins too, but didn't bother, as I thought that most list
members were out west. Imagine my surprise when I saw one at an equine
trade show in New England!

started - and it was 'endurance@xxxxxxxxxx' ? I still have the pins Nick
Warhol made with that on them. I think there were 25 on the list when it was
first born. In late 1994 ? John had just started an Internet company in
