The trouble with reading the whole truth in EN is its a 6 week lead time and
a $5/page cost (ok, so I'm guessing at the cost, but I'm sure Kathleen can
correct that if she hears about it. She's the Executive Director of AERC and

But the WHOLE truth would be more pages that I, as a member, would want the
organization to pay out just to get the whole truth to me.

It costs about $2700.00 to print the rule book of the AERC. that's 42 pages
in A4 size. That's as much of the gospel as AERC REALLY needs to print every
year.

So there's an issue with the page size - change it to be the same as EN, or
even make it an insert in the December issue of EN (and send the December EN
to each new member throughout the ride year. would save about $2500 of the
$2700 (again, I'm guessing at the numbers, but Kathleen will fix that:)

So part of the whole truth would be the discussion which should be
undertaken re: the size of the rules book.vs.cost.vs.usability ----

The above discussion, which should be undertaken b/c of the need to balance
size/cost/usability in the rules book, vet handbook, rider managers
handbook, and riders handbook. All told, these cost about the same I'd guess
(just based on rough page size estimations). So if then the print cost
differential between A4 size (current version) and printing the same as
EnduranceNews size is a cost difference of $6000.vs.$1300 (again Kathleen
would be a good place to get real numbers:)

Now, I ask you. Is the above kind of discussion that you'd like to see on
ridecamp? Seems pretty boring but there are stong feelings re: the A4 size
so the discussion could be pretty lively!!

But I do think that "...reading the whole truth in EN..." is a rather costly
way for the AERC members to keep you, not even an AERC member anyway!!!

oh - i get it.

the sensorship is not happening through filtering technology,  but rather
through social preasures -- steph saying "don't talk about that".

outa my realm - i've been sensored by her for years and can't seem to get
around the block.....

There are a good number of people who have tried to post messages here
regarding concerns about how things are being handled by the Board of
Directors for the AERC and have reasonable concerns. And I think that it is
important for everyone here to realize that Steph is censuring those and not
letting any postings thru that have anything negative to say about Board
Actions or Policies. I am really disappointed, Steph, I always thought this
was the one place where we could talk about important issues and be able to
be heard.  So if we can't read the whole truth in EN and now Steph is not
letting the whole truth be heard here because she doesn't want anything
negative about the Board (of which she is a member), where do we go to
dialog about our concerns?  I'm not trying to point fingers, I am concerned
about how Steph, Randy, John Parkes and others are controlling our access to
the truth and how powerless we are in that process.  If this message goes
through it is only because I listed helmets as the subject and not the real
topic which would have drawn Steph's attention and been kicked out.  roger
