After I fell and smashed my knee so bad and was in that wheelchair for about 6 months, I found out how bad you can be hurt. I had panic attacks but not riding was worse than riding. I would ride about 1/4 miles down the road and then panic and say "I can't do this, I can't do this" and get off and walk back home. This was with my dead broke horse that I raised from a baby. Ask Heather about this. She put up with me getting hysterical a couple of times. I finally got better and better but am still nervous about situations that would bother no one else.

I can't see how bareback would help. I too am short and have short legs and am also overweight. I doubt I could ride across an arena without toppling off. I think you have to ride a horse you trust not to do anything stupid and the more you ride without incident, the braver you get....mb
