    I don't see how that is posible.  Normally there will be an inch of slack, they will only tighten on a down hill, and loosen on the next up hil or flat.
     
    Yes, they do solve the girth slips forward and causes rubbs under the front legs.  I first started using one on a stock type Q horse mare who was shaped like a barrel.  worked great.
