I leave a note at the barn as to where I am going and when I expect to be back, and I'll usually call somebody, too.  I ride alone alot because I am usually out when nobody is at the barn.  I scared myself the other night when I was riding in the dark through a wooded area.  I realized how dangerous this was because there could be a psycho lurking in the woods and no one would here me scream.  I payed attention the the weapons thread.  I only carry a knife, but now I'm thinking I better get well armed!
