Re: [RC] Swanton Pacific - DABNEY FINCH
In response to your question about how Swanton compares to other 100's:
First of all, it is totally, absolutely gorgeous. If you like huge trees,
redwoods, lush forests and meadows, views of the Pacific Ocean, great food,
plenty of water, hay, etc., great vets, excellent management, plenty of
markings, ever-changing scenery, and good safe footing, this ride is for
you.
That said, Swanton DOES have it's share of hills, and even front runners
Suzy Kelley and Heather Bergantz weren't finished last year until I believe
about 12:30 AM. A lot of riders think it's just as tough as Tevis, but just
not as treacherous and dangerous.
Gary and I completed it as our first 100, though, so don't let that scare
you. You'll just have to pace very carefully compared to some of the easier
100's.
Hope to see you there!
