[RC] Advice needed - Rae Callaway

Another question - for any lawyers or other experience, I guess.  My friend had her mare at a vet clinic for breeding (frozen semen) and today they called her that the mare had broken her leg.  The humorous bone in the front leg.  They say that she broke it in the pasture, but my friend has doubts.  The pasture is postage stamp size and no damage was seen to any of the fences.  The mare had hair loss where the halter was, which leads her to think that Tami was fighting something or someone - possible a blow up in the stocks or something.  TAMU is recommending she put the mare down - sight unseen at the moment.(she plans to somehow take the mare to them in a couple of days so that they can look her over)  This is her best brood mare and she is really devastated.  She is wondering if there is any legal recourse against the vet clinic.  Would their liability insurance cover any repairs to this mare since it happened on their premises?

Thanks, and I apologize for the non-endurance topic.  Please respond to me off list.
