[RC] portable panels - Brenda L. Kossowan

Deb: I have a caution about portable panels after witnessing an incident
at the Devon Hodown this summer: An Appy gelding (I think this only
happens to appies, actually), stuck his head through the panel to reach
for some grass. The panel rode up on his neck and he ended up stuck in
it, walking around the grounds and dragging all four panels with him,
the sides gradually working their way up on his sides. We got him
stopped and freed him, but not before he nearly scared the daylights out
of his owner. The panels were light for portability, which probably
contributed to the ease with which the horse was able to pack them
around. After watching that, I would suggest that panels no be used
unless they can be well secured, either with a set of stakes or tied to
    the trailer.
