[RC] glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM - Typef

Since absolutely nobody answered my newbie question about NextLevel that I'd been feeding my horse since I had so much of it left over from my old guys that died in Feb. and March, except to tell my I was abusing my horse, which I didn't understand ... I decided to make the time to do a little research.

Bear in mind, I'm trying to learn and I'm just trying to understand. The only thing I found in the AERC book was "not be influenced by any drug, medication or veterinary treatment .. prohibits from competition equines who containe evidence of the administration of abnormal substances or of normal substances in abnormal amounts." That didn't really help me, not knowing whether glucosamine and chondroitin are "natural" substances and if what's in NextLevel is a "normal" amount.

So then I found the "AERC Permissible and Prohibited Drugs & Medications" list on endurance.net. MSM questioned answer. Not permissable.

I still can't figure out the other two substances. However, what I was looking before when I originally asked, was "Do I chuck the 1.5 gallons of Next Level" I have left over? Seemed kind of wasteful at $150/gallon which is why my new horse was getting it. After my 35 and 26-year-olds died, I no longer have any old horses. Waste not, want not, as they say. Of course, now that I've found the nonpermissable list, I know she cannot have it because of the MSM.

After I explained my situation, not one person said "sorry, we thought you were just trying to get away with something, not asking an honest question." I would like to reiterate my point that one should always answer a question respectfully like the person asking it really wants to know and not treat them like they are total idiots.

That said, I am very grateful for this board and also for the wonderful endurance.net site which has helped me to get ready for my first ride this weekend. Without either, I would be way far behind in the learning curve.
