Hey, Laura, that doesns't surprise me in the least. I finally found my new
ride after looking at literally over one thousand horses and getting detailed
information on maybe a dozen out of that. This place that you looked at sounds
like a horse trader for sure. Go to a reputable breeder or get on ridecamps
classifieds and be prepared to pay the money to get a good horse, or you will
spend ten times that on a "bargain" yes, I know they are out there, but few and
far between.

amber, who is majorly relieved to have finally ended my search. And my new
guy is coming from Canada! Which by the way isn't a bad place to look for a
horse with the US dollar being so strong up there.

Subject: [RC] What's up with that?

  Hello
Everybody! I'm in the process of looking for an arabian for endurance
riding. I can't believe the condition of the horse we looked at yesterday.
This horse, was, as the man claimed a quarter horse-arab. By the
characteristics, it looked like an arab-paint! We went to the ranch, and the
man selling the horse came about 10 minutes after us, to go get the horse, so
we could see him. In an approxmate 6 acre pasture, there were about 20-25
horses, and about 15-20 were paints. To begin with, the man had a hard time
finding the horse, and it took him about 40 minutes to actually catch him, and
he had to use a bucket of oats for the last 10 minutes. This man was clueless
when it came to horses. This horse, as we saw during the 40 minute catching
was a beautiful runner. From a distance it looked as though it had good
withers. When the man walked this horse up to us, my jaw dropped. This horse
had a beautiful face, but everything else about him I couldn't believe. For
starters, he had been riden too young, and the man that rode him was about 200
lbs. H e had a terrible sway back, and you could see his ribs, and he had a
bony butt, but yet, he had a fat belly. This led us to think that the horse
had worms. The man said that the ranch owner gets the horses wormed every
year, but I guess he forgot to get Apollo (the horse) wormed, as he was in
terrible condition. The man also said that Apollo was up to date on his shots,
but many things led to thinking this was as well a lie. Just thought I'd let
you know what is out there! Happy Horse Ridings!
