[RC] Horse Ambulances - Ridecamp Guest

    Carol Saunders csaunder@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I have seen many thank yous to the various volunteer organizations that helped to put on Tevis. However, I have yet to see anyone thank the volunteers that give their time, rigs,GAS & help to pull pulled horses out. Some of the places these dedicated volunteers are sent should never see a truck & trailer. Jerry Scribner & his crew do a magnificent job. My husband, Jon has worked with Jerry & his crew for many years now. Without these people, it would be pure hell for the pulled riders & their very tired & sometimes injured horses. I did see a complaint from someone who was asked to walk from Franciscos to a parking area closer to the top. All I can say is, "fella, lets see you take your rig down to Franciscos & back." I think this person would have a new appreciation for these volunteers. My husband was all the way down to Franciscos to pull horses out that were in real trouble, not those that were capable of walking up the trail. In many cases it is better for the horses to slowly walk out than to be taken out over a very, very rough road.
