I'll take a shot at it as I spoke with Nancy Elliot about
Tevis at a ride she was vetting a couple years ago.  She 
mentioned that at Tevis you'll see horses who can trot 
sound at the trot out but who are actually so tired that 
they have a hard time walking freely.  The muscles are, 
um, just tired.  Not cramped, just tired.  I think it's 
an interesting pull code addition and I'd guess that the 
vets decided to start pulling for this now proactively 
and not wait for the metabolic or lame pull further down 
the trail.  Just a guess though on my part, mind you.
DNF - did not finish.  This also applied to race horses.
DNS - did not start.  What, vetted in OK the night before,
but something happened?
Still haven't heard about PNP though.
Are one of the DNS's at Robie Park a result of the alleged
unsportsmanship behavior?
