    [RC] BC judging - oddfarm

While I always heard it referred to as "BC Judging" I didn't realize it was actual judging. I thought they used the same formula every ride used for BC. Veddy, veddy, interesting.

Is there any other ride that uses judging instead of the AERC formula? (Not including FEI rides) Is there a special request to AERC to be able to judge? The rule book says BC is optional in any distance but says nothing about special "judging". Is it thought to be more fair or just easier? Doesn't that add a lot more cost to the ride, to have all those judges?

No matter how you look at it, it is a tough freakin ride. Last year a truck and trailer rolled off the side of a mountain so I am not surprised that a horse and rider would. I was scared to death just driving into and out of base camp!

My condolences to the rider who lost their horse and I hope all the injured heal quickly. I also hope it doesn't discourage anyone from living life like they mean it and to take a risk every now and again. We can't control EVERYTHING!
