What is this with the haggins cup winner being on the front
page of tevis cup page... should it not be the race winner?  What is the
point in riding it and getting first if you get no applaud.  The auburn
journal talks all about haggins cup too, very little about the ride winner.
I know best condition is GREAT, but I thought it was about who finished
    first AND BC.

hmmm...well, "to finish is to win" kind of levels THAT field as far as publicity. While I understand the idea of appreciating the "winner" as it were, I am delighted that the BEst Conditioned horse is getting more than a passing mention. When will get over ourselves sufficiently enough to place more value on character in winning than in winning? I hope to think that no one I know goes out to win a race for the APPLAUSE. YIKES! One correct statement here - "best condition is GREAT"! Yes indeed!
