[RC] huckleberry now fayette de camero - Shagyaarabs

    HI Ridecampers,

    I don't know  Huckleberry
's breeding but I do know that Potato's bay mare, Fayette de Camero, is a 1/2 Arabian.  Her other half is Shagya Arabian through her deceased imported sire, Oman*.

The Shagya Arabian breed was created by the Austro-Hungarian Empire 200 years ago.  Their goal was to create a horse for their calavery.  A horse that can cover ground with smooth gaits (easy relaxed swinging back), a good keeper with a great disposition, and a heart to go the distance.    The Shagya Arabian was the result.  There are very few of these horses in the world.  Most are in Germany and are used for outcross breeding in the warmblood breeds.  The USA has about 104 approved breeding horses.

I have an Oman son, Bayram, who is approved for breeding.  I am also a wannabe endurance rider and soon will have one of Bayram's sons ready for a LD ride.  Hopefully this fall.  Roger also has an Oman son, Omni.

Potato's breeding and training program proved that the Shagya Arabian cross makes a great endurance horse.
