[RC] sore knees (the rider's, not the horses) - Ridecamp Guest

I have a condition called chrodomylacia (sp?) which basically is wearing of cartiledge on the back of the kneecap due to poorly aligned tendons/ligaments. I've been bothered by it since I was a teenager. When I climb stair my knees go "CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH" which is depressing as hell, but most bothersome is the pain caused by sitting with bent knees for extended periods of time (ie: in cramped movie thater seats, long car trips, or riding a horse for long periods of time). This is a common condition, so may be what is ailing Angies knees. I have found the best treatment to be 1. ibuprophen 2. frequent changes of leg position and straightening legs (change stirrup leather length, stand in sturrups, get off an walk periodically) and 3. heat, especially moist heat (hot compresses): not real practical during the ride, but good for back at camp.

Aging sucks, but it beats the available alternative
