[RC] Battle Hollow - third story - Laura Hayes

Mary and Patti expounded on the virtues of the Battle Hollow 50/50, 2d 100 that we attended last weekend in Punxsutawney PA.  I just wanted to add my two cents.

I rode the 50 both days on Music (the one who doesn't hang his head out the drop down door while in motion....honest)   I have been to rides where I thought I might ride the second day, but didn't because the trail was JUST TOO BORING!!

I appreciate ANYONE who puts on a ride, and I also appreciate that some areas do not have adequate trail to make 50 miles of interesting terrain, but, I can't bear to ride the same trail over and over and over, and then go out the second day and do it again.  BUT, Battle Hollow had darn near 50 miles of trail - and it was interesting and scenic and I loved it the second day as much as the first.  I especially loved the yellow loop which had soft forest footing and trail that wound through the woods - Music canters most of this type of trail and seems to enjoy it almost like a game of 'catch me if you can.'

The weather was too warm for Mary's Morgan, Patti's Warmblood, and my Arab with the 8.5 inch cannons so I went extra slow to be sure and complete, but it was great - there was food and water, cheerful volunteers and 50 MILES OF TRAIL.  I keep mentioning this because I have been to very few rides in the last few years that were.  Thank you, Dorie.

It was a great weekend to be on the trail with my best buddy.

    Happy Trails-
