    There is an article at  culturedcowboy.com   on fitting western saddles to rider and horse.
     I have an english one somewhere. You sit in whats comfortable and should have a hands width between your back and the edge of the saddle. Also there are articles on some of the magazine websites, like horse Illustrated or horseand rider, etc.

    Anyone know of a link for a good site that describes how to discover the
    proper saddle size for a rider?  I'm advising a neophyte who doesn't live
    near me and would like to have her check out a few such sites, if they exist.
