[RC] Great time at Battle Hollow (PA)! - RISTREE

Will piggyback on Mary Coleman's note to say that while it wasn't great Trakehner riding weather, either, Battle Hollow was a lovely time!

Dorie Skarbek and Terry do a super job managing this ride!  From the moment of arrival, where Terry does his best diplomatic job squeezing 80 sardines in a 50 sardine can, to the marking of the trails, to the vets (Stan and Larry), to ensuring there was enough water for what turned out to be a lot more horses than they'd anticipated.  (By all means, folks, do your poor long-suffering ride managers a favor and give them as much notice as possible that you're planning to come to their ride!)

The trails consisted of some gravel road, wide jeep trails, single track through the woods and through spruce and tall, tall grass.  Plenty of munching available along the way, and lots of water, thanks to an early week thunderstorm (not only clear, cold creeks and a natural spring but my Ned's favorite -- dank, opaque, puddles full of pollywogs -- yum!  protein!)

Good friends, good weather, great trails, lots of smiles!  What else could you ask for . . . ?   Ned finished his third career 50 with all As and enough attitude to make me wonder if we shouldn't be going a bit faster these days.

Hubby's horse developed a bit of a bizarre mild gas colic on Friday evening.  No changes in management or feed, tho it was warm.  He got a bit of banamine and never looked back, but of course, no competing this weekend.  I am suspecting the dreaded ulcers, so we plan to have him scoped.

If anyone knows the (cheaper) source of Canadian ulcer meds, can you please drop me an email privately?  Many thanks!
