[RC] DEER FLIES - Lysane Cree
The one thing that I use alot of is SWAT made by Farnam. I put it inside and outside the ears and outside and along the top of the neck. I usually put some on the horse's belly as well (not in the girth area). This seems to be the spots where most of the deer flies settle on my horse anyway. Its kind of gooey so it doesn't sweat off too much and it stays real well on the ears. I always got asked questions when I used the flourescent pink one (the only one I could find for awhile), but it comes in a clear version as well. There is no difference between the two in terms of deterrence of bugs. SWAT is also good at keeping gnats, black flies out of the ears. I use OFF on myself and this seems to be sufficient. The deer flies always seem to attack my horse more than me.
