[RC] navicular horse - kit kat

Ok, this is just my 2 cents worth, so no one jump down my throat. But BE VERY careful about x-ray with navicular or founder. It can be mistaken for each other(personal expereince).I would get another vets opinion. Now you say this horse is FAT. So first off before you going and telling someone to kill a horse, You should tell her to get it off the pasture, and into a place to LOSE the weight. That is the first step to kindness on this horse. Also, get a second opinion from a vet. I do not care if the first one was a trusted vet. We had 2 trusted vets almost kill 2 of our horses. So no, if it depends on your horses life and sanity and love, you need to get some other vet out there and take some more x-rays(after the weight is off). There are alot of horses that I have met in my day that are ridden and still alive with navicular. Just depends on how severe. But this horse should NOT be 1300 lbs. More like 1100lbs at most and that is fit. After he looses the weight, im sure a GREAT deal of pain will be taken off... Also, I used to ride a nice gelding with a light case of navicular. He needed to have his shoes turned backwards. Toe of shoe at the heel. If he did not have that, he was slightly lame. But this was NOT an endurance horse, just a lesson and trail riding horse. If she does not ride it, and after the weight comes off and with this shoeing, he is ok.... I see NO point in putting him down. Even if she nerve blocked him, and if he is not in pain, telling her to put him down is not right. That has to be her option. To me though, I do not believe in horses suffering, but I also do not believe in giving up before you have done all you can to help this horse. Why unneccisarily slaughter this horse if you can fix him... even if he is a lawn orniment. So, this is what I would do.... good luck:)
