[RC] Saddles - kathy . mayeda

No one saddle works for everyone, and every saddle has
    it's plusses and minuses.

I love my ReactorPanel saddle, but I occasionally go
thru "velcro trauma" when I readjust it. But when it's
done right, it's a wonderful saddle. It's English
    styled.

I also have a Abetta endurance saddle. Built on a
ralide "Arabian" Western tree. I got it to back Drako
with after being thrown out of my old Collegiate
Graduate flat english saddle. Ever since I got the
Abetta I've never been thrown by Drako. But it's not
the saddle, folks! Drako just really looked guilty when
he dumped me on the second backing and he just never
    dumped me again.

The Abetta fits a lot of horses. It's cheap. It's a
good saddle to start with. I don't think it's a good
saddle for too long of distances, though, because it
seems that the tree hits right into the shoulder going
downhill. But that's just the way it fits on my horses.

In general, I'm not fond of the position Western saddles
put me in. I particularly started disliking any saddle
horns because I feel like I may be speared in the
stomach with one on our uphill romps.

I love Stubbens for myself. Beau hated every single
Stubben I put on his back. I rode for a few years with
the Collegiate, but it really doesn't wear well with the
    miles.

    K.
