Re: [RC] Chocolate icing - Lisa Redmond

Unless the chocolate icing is something like ganache, with large quantities of solid chocolate in it, the theombrine content should be negligible.  I'm not advocating chocolate icing for dogs, but I had a cocker spaniel that we fed leftover coca-cola cake to one time without any problems (except for him grabbing Dad by the thumb and not letting go--seems the thumb was covered with icing and he stuck it thru the fence for Happy to lick the icing, and Happy assumed it was another piece of cake!)

I have to confess that I have no clue whether horses are allergic to theombrine....they aren't very likely to get into the candy dish on the coffee table and eat all the Hershey kisses, so there aren't any case histories around that I know of.  It certainly never came up in Feeds and Feeding classes!
