[RC] 4 yoas in distance riding/hard working arabs - Cheryl & Randy Winter

Since this thread has started to talk about the appreciation of the Arab in
QH territory I thought you might enjoy this poem I wrote a few years ago.
It was prompted by being invited to the last roundup of cattle at a ranch in
the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, also as a tribute to our
now retired horse Riffraff's Raison. Our vet who was their vet also,
invited us. Little did the ranchers know we would show up decked out in all
our endurance splendor. Consequently, they sent us up every hill and down
every valley looking for lost cows. Figured they'd teach us something. At
the end, of course, our horses were just getting warmed up as there's
    dragged into camp.
    Enjoy
    Randy

    COWBOY¹S DELIGHT
My pony she¹s white, she¹s what I got.
We¹ve traveled many a mile together, an Arab she¹s hot.

She¹s a hand me down, got her well rode,
Put in thousands of miles, her story be it told.

Buy her at a sale? You probably would not.
No looks, bent knees, short choppy trot.

But movin' down the trail is her idea of good life.
Lot¹s of days under saddle with the hand me downer, my loving wife.

An endurance horse when she first touched ground in out back pasture,
Fifteen years of trail, it¹s time not to go faster.

Picture this? little white horse, rider in helmet, spandex tights.
Funny saddle, wrong breed, We¹re a cowboy¹s delight.

But cowboy if you spy us out movin' on the trail, don¹t snicker or
    condescend.
If it¹s movin' down the trail you¹re after, we¹ll kick your rear end.
