    For the record, many that are loaded up "right after taking off the IV
    fluids" are SENT out of camp by the veterinarians treating them, and are
    being sent either directly to a clinical facility where they can be better
    monitored, or are being sent closer to civilization where they can have
    access to a clinical facility if they need one.  Although a few ride vets
    have portable equipment to run bloodwork, etc., such things are still not
    the norm.  It is a testimony to the knowledge of our ride vets that horses
    are so ably treated in situations that make a MASH unit look like medical
    luxury.  Once they are stable, it is often in the horse's best interests to
    get out to a situation where there is more technology available for
    evaluation and followup.
