    I have to agree with Bob & say that mandatory 15 minute stops along the trail do not mean a horse will get to rest & eat. For all the reasons that he mentions.
    I think a P&R stop is indeed a veterinary control point. (Unless AERC should implement & qualify lay judges, which sounds like a lot more work.)
    If enough horses are getting in trouble that these extra stops are really needed, how would having FEWER vets at a ride be any answer? I also suspect that if such extra stops are needed, it is at those stops where horses would tie up, colic, etc. I'm for letting the riders manage their horses on trail and having vets at all mandatory stops.


    1.2 vets for 126 horses. If one horse needed treatment that .2 vet would be awful busy!
