    Part One:

Ok let me just start off and say that this is my first endurance ride and I wasn?t even riding. I was pit crewing for my mom and dad. This ride was the pyramid challenge at the Kentucky horse park. The ride was great and the experience too. But let me start at the beginning.

Well it was Wednesday June 5 and we wanted to start packing and getting ready early. Well my mom and I have planned on giving our horses a bath and feeding all our ?nags? early. So we head up our hill and to feed our ?nags?. We hook up and put the right amount of feed in the bowls and sit to rest and watch them munch. My mom melanie was sitting down and I was grooming my dads horse (a big palomino paint) and I noticed a mare of my nieces laying down. I asked my mom what?s the matter and she said it?s a regular thing where she?s a old mare. Well I finish grooming and went to sit with mom and noticed the mare still had not gotten up and was having this foam stuff come out of her mouth and nose. My mom jumps up when I point this out and goes to check the mare out. As we are trying to do what we can for this mare (and not even knowing what is really the matter) we try to make her comfortable as we can and try to get her on her feet again. As we are doing this my sister brother-in-law and their daughter pulls up and
Heads to the top of the hill. Well to make a long story short we ended up having a vet up to the house. We fount out that she had something clogged in her throat. The vet thinks it was some senior feed lodged in her throat. Well we didn?t get anything packed. We only got the horses bathed and then it started pouring down rain. And it never quit.
The next day we had planned on waking up kinda early to get everything packed but we didn?t wake up tell 10:00. We had to go to town and get snacks and stuff and when we got back had to pack everything in the rain in the back of our truck. The rain started slacking and our ride got there.
See we didn?t have a truck to haul our horse trailer because about 3 or 4 months ago my dad had rolled our truck that pulled our horse trailer down US 27 so we had to have a friend to pull us. So he gets there and we load the horses. I was so grateful that they loaded good because at that time I don?t think I could handle any more chaos. My dad and our friend luke take off toward the horse park and me and mom finish loading up and put the dogs in the truck. See on the way to the horse park we had to stop by Versailles and drop the dogs off by my sisters for my brother-in-law to watch them for us. Well we start off and get about ½ a mile from our house and we pass this house with 3 dogs there. Not even tied up. And my crazy yellow lab jumps out and about breaks his leg. So we turn around head back to the house and drop the dogs off and decide to ask Jim (brother-in-law) if he minded to pick up the dogs when he came in that night to feed and check on the horses.

So here we are, finally we are headed to the horse park. Only a couple of hours away from where we live. Like I said though we had to stop by Versaillesto pick my sister up tammy. We finally make it there and dad has already set up the corral and has the horses in it with hay. So we start to unpack. I start cleaning out our old whit stock trailer that my dad and I had rebuilt the summer before so we can put the mattress? down. One for my mom and dad to share and one for my sister and me. We get everything set up and in its right place and try to settle down a bit. Then this lady that my mom says put everything together came by our camp site. See I don?t know much about these endurance rides or anything I just try to keep up with it because my mom likes it so much and I thought it would be fun to do something together. Anyways??im babbling so ill get on with it. Like I said this lady came by and told us a bunch of stuff?I really wasn?t paying any attention. Only thing I can remember is she told us where we can get the water from. So after she left we decided to take the truck and get some water for our three ?nags?. After that we pretty much louge around for a while tell we got bored so we decided to go to the Arabian horse show in the main arena. When we got there my mom and sister just loved being there but me and my dad didn?t. don?t get me wrong the place was cool and everything and the horses were beautiful but we just didn?t fit in there. See were more of the rodeo redneck hilbillie type. So we decided to leave and head back. Well on the way back we ran into these real cool people from Georgia. The Iveys. Real sweet people. Anyways we talked to them for a while untill my mom called dad. So we headed back to camp and laid our worn out bodies down untill the next morning.
