Last weekend Debi Morissette Ivey told me that she did her first ride
with me in 1987. (Debi went on to be the National 100 miler champion,
and a lot more). She said, "You don't remember, but I did my first ride
with you. I didn't know *anything* and you talked the whole time and
told me all about how to do endurance right" or something like that.

I was so embarassed because...that was MY third ride. >g< I apologized
for having been such a know it all and she said, "No, I listened to what
you said, and 15 years later I'm still doing most of it. I guess it
worked" >g< Now I realize I wasn't giving her *my* advice, I was giving
her Mathew Mackay-Smiths, Linda Tellington Jones', and a lot of other
    good writer/riders advice. I think there is a difference. If you're a
reader, and another newbie isn't...you can be a very valuable source of
information. I doubt I had a single opinion of my own to pass along at
    that time. :-)
