Sorry frank  - nice writing-  however we HAVE RULES how a ride is run,
how the organization is run  - seems we should have integrity to
follow these rules   or we should just get rid of them ..?

Of course not roger...I don't believe my post  intimated, inferred or otherwise stated that.
We have plenty of "rules"....the enforcement and fair application of them certainly is another thing.
They are not applied the same from ride to ride, let alone from region to region.
We have morphed into LD's, 50's, 100's, multi-days, FEI rides, IAHA rides, Pre-PanAm Rides, PanAm qualifiers, WEG rides, WEC rides, Ride and Ties, and so forth.
Do we have the organizational leadership required to deal with all the special interests of each one of us?
        I don't really know.
So, I condition my horse, and when able, show up and ride my horse and then go home.
        That's good enough for me.
If I wanted more out "endurance", I'd probably be banging the drum and yelling, "The sky is falling" for all to hear.
And then, having said that, get involved in making things better.
But, I have to say, just getting through the days these days seems hard enough for me.
        Frank.
