    There are many motels in Ruidoso about 14 miles away and I one in Capitan that is 6 miles from base camp...Weather is like NM all over ...warm in the daytime, cool in the evenings...Of course for me, no humidity, so it is pleasant.  There isn't a lot of shade at base camp so be prepared for that.   Trails are mostly gently rolling with all kinds of different footing...Management is wonderful...See you there
